STRUCTURES IN FLUX
GLAZED STONEWARE
2026

These works emerge through a process of collaboration with clay, where hand-built structures, and experimental nerikomi glazing techniques are brought together without a fixed outcome in mind. Rather than treating clay as a material to be controlled, I approach it as an active participant in the making process. The glaze develops through a dialogue between intention, gravity, material memory, and the transformative conditions of the kiln. The contrasting structure and glaze fluidity create a tension between containment and movement, suggesting bodies, growth, entanglement, and systems in flux. As the glaze softens, settles, and responds during firing, the work moves beyond what can be fully predicted, allowing unexpected relationships to emerge. These sculptures are records of negotiation. They explore what happens when authorship is shared with the material itself, embracing uncertainty as a generative force and allowing the expressive possibilities of clay to reveal themselves through process, transformation, and chance.
