Landscape Series
glazed stoneware
2026

The 'Landscape Series' is an ongoing body of work that aims to capture the beauty in the everyday.

I hold what might be considered an unpopular opinion amongst Canadians: I love winter, and I feel lucky to be able to experience all four seasons without ever having to leave home.

As someone who chases sunsets, I notice how different the sky becomes during this time of year. Winter skies are often grey and overcast, lacking the vibrant colours of summer sunsets. Yet, in the deepest part of winter, on the shortest days, those familiar hues are replaced by something quieter and more subtle.

During what is often called “blue hour,” a brief window that lasts only about twenty minutes, the world is washed in blue. Buildings fade into silhouettes, illuminated only by the warm glow of windows. It is a fleeting, understated beauty, one that can easily go unnoticed, but feels deeply profound when observed.

This moment is what inspired me to begin this series. The work is still evolving, and over the course of the year I will continue creating landscape pieces that respond to these transient, often overlooked moments in our daily environment.
