I hold what might be considered an unpopular opinion: I love winter.

Winter skies are often described as grey and overcast, lacking the vibrant colours associated with summer sunsets. Yet during the shortest days and coldest months, those familiar hues are replaced by something quieter and more subtle. During what is often called the “blue hour,” the landscape is briefly washed in blue. Buildings recede into silhouette, illuminated by the warm glow of windows, while the sky takes on lavender and violet tones, reflecting light off the snow-covered city.

It is a fleeting beauty that can easily go unnoticed, but one that I find deeply moving. These moments of stillness, transition, and subtle colour are the starting point for this series. Through these landscapes, I seek to capture the atmosphere of winter twilight and draw attention to the understated transformations that occur in everyday environments.

​This body of work is ongoing. As I continue to observe and respond to these transient conditions, the series will grow as an evolving record of my relationship to the winter landscape and the quiet moments of beauty that emerge within it.
